Day 0-1: The Road and Orem
Day 0:
On our way to Orem last night, we had some interesting things happen. Before we crossed the Colorado/Utah state line we ran over a dead coyote... rather discusting if you ask me. Then later on the road in Utah, we ran over the legs of a dead deer. Gross... again. And then to top it all off... we ran over a dead jack rabbit. Luckily there is no damage to Kacey's car and we are completely fine. But still! GROSS!!!!!
Day 1:
This morning when we woke up Kacey and I headed to Walmart to get something for breakfast. Before we got in the car Kacey looked under the car and saw something dead stuck to the bottom of the car... IT WAS THE COYOTE'S LEG!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I'm completely grossed out at this point. So we go to Walmart and come back and eat. Before we did anything else Kacey insisted on getting his car washed and the dead animals out from underneath it.... the poor carwash guys... GROSS!!!
From there we headed to Kacey's grandma's house to say hi. There I got to meet one of Kacey's cousins and chat with Grandma. We then hit the 2 malls in the area and walked around for a while. Kacey wanted to show me where his mom's parents used to live before they passed away. His aunt still lives there so we got to see them as well. They told us where Grandma and Grandpa Shumway were buried so we went to see that because Kacey wasn't able to make it out for their funerals.
We headed up Provo canyon a short way to Squaw Peak. Squaw Peak overlook the entire city and Utah Lake. While there we saw some people getting ready to jump off with parachutes and gliders! We thought it was pretty cool. On of the men doing the jump asked me to drive his truck down to the feild where they were going to land... so I did. Here are some pictures from up at the outlook.
This is heading up Squak Peak
View from the top
At the top of Squaw Peak, I saw something I've never seen before! There was a circular rainbow all the way around the Sun! I thought it was really cool! Here are the pictures I got... remember, you can't look directly at the Sun so these are a little off!
After I dropped off the truck at the land site we headed to Bridal Veil Falls. These are some GORGEOUS waterfalls!
We ended the day with dinner at Chuck-a-Rama with Grandpa Livingston where we all ate WAY TOO MUCH! From there, we headed back to Grandpa Livingston's to relax and settle down for the night. We may try to get some bowling in later tonight if we aren't too tired.
